selfie, layers one and two
Layers one and two of "selfie". The scale of this peice can be measured against the height of the door. The next layer will be a gradual build up of blue from the top left corner gradually becoming more transparent as the colour moves towards the center canvas. Conversely a layer of green will build from the bottom right canvas as a forth layer. I have been using a thick brush and rag to appy the colour then pressing porous shelf liners to pull paint off the canvas to create texture.

The male figure is at a crossroads as the female figure fades in and out of the picture. What's more important, the "stuff " in our lives or the relationships. The female figure is a digital projection which fades and returns at 10 second intervals.

Blue Changes, acrylic on canvas,
The subject is the daughter of a very good friend of mine. We both have children close in age and we are at the stage in our lives when our children start to leave home and forge their own paths. Blue Change is about that transition. Our children leave the comfort of our influence and learn how to make their own mistakes. It's sad but beautiful at the same time. It leaves us kind of blue.
